Pak PM directs officials to resolve property issues of Hindus

Pakistan Premier Raja Pervez Ashraf has directed the board managing the shrines of minority communities to resolve all issues related to properties of the Hindus in the country, amid allegations regarding mismanagement of assets belonging to temples and gurdwaras.

The Premier issued the directive after Minister of State for Information Samsam Ali Bokhari informed him about the “chronic issue of properties of the Hindus, which are

currently with the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB)”.

Bokhari said the ETPB was “depriving people of their legitimate claims on property and this was causing resentment among the members of the minority community”, according to a statement issued by the Premier’s office.

Ashraf directed the ETPB’s management to “resolve the issue to the satisfaction of the affected people at the earliest”.

The ETPB is responsible for managing the shrines and properties of minority communities across Pakistan.

There have been several allegations against the Board regarding the mismanagement of properties of temples and gurdwaras in different cities.
