Islamabad, Dec. 7 : Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Monday that a bilateral meeting will be held with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj during her visit to Islamabad tomorrow.
“At Pakistan’s invitation, the Indian foreign minister will arrive in Islamabad tomorrow to attend the Heart of Asia conference,” Sartaj told reporters at a press conference today.
He told reporters in Islamabad that a bilateral meeting will be held with Swaraj, Geo TV reported.
Aziz said that Afghan President Ashraf Ghani will also arrive in the capital to attend the conference the following day.
High-level meeting will also be held on the sidelines of the ‘Heart of Asia’ conference, Aziz said.
On Sunday, the National Security Advisors (NSAs) of India and Pakistan met in Bangkok and held discussions on various issues of mutual interest, including terrorism and Jammu and Kashmir.
“Discussions were held in a candid, cordial, and constructive atmosphere, and covered peace and security, terrorism, J&K and other issues, including tranquillity along the Line of Control (LoC),” stated a joint press statement issued following their meeting.
“They are guided by the visions of two leaders for a peaceful stable and prosperous South Asia, and it was agreed to carry forward the constructive engagement,” the statement added.
The Heart of Asia meeting will be held in Islamabad on December 9.(ANI)
