Pak HC summons SHO for non-registration of FIR against Musharraf

The Islamabad High Court has reportedly summoned Station House Officer (SHO) Aabpara Police Station on September 2 for non-registration of FIR against former president Pervez Musharraf despite court orders.

The court also questioned the SSP regarding why the case is not being registered against Musharraf for initiating the Lal Masjid operation.

The IHC resumed hearing of the contempt plea filed by the son of former Imam of Lal Masjid Abdul Rashid Ghazi, Haroon Ur Rashid Ghazi against the non-compliance of police of the court orders for registering FIR against the former ruler.

Petitioner’s counsel, Tariq Asad told the bench that he approached the police station concerned after the court’s decision but both the SHO and the SSP refused to register the case, Daily Times reports.

Asad also apprised that a legal notice was also sent to the concerned police officers but no action or reply was received by them.

According to the report, on July 12, Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi had ordered the police to book the former president and if the Lal Masjid operation was a cognizable offence, a case be registered against Musharraf for the death of Ghazi and his associates.

However, the police refused to register the FIR and said that it would file the registration after consulting with its legal branch. (ANI)
