New Delhi, August 17: Pakistan-based jihadis are itching to mount fresh attacks on India. The warning comes from none other than the prime minister of the country. And it comes at a time when India is preparing for an extended festival season.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was speaking at the chief ministers’ conference in New Delhi on Monday. He said there was credible information of Pakistan-based terror groups plotting attacks on India.
The PM said that cross-border terrorism still remains the country’s biggest internal security challenge. He underscored the home minister’s point that despite pressure piled on Pakistan, terror threat has not vanished.
The PM said that there was an urgent need to provide the country’s security forces with ultra-modern weapons to take on the jihadi threat.
