Pak forces foil major terror bid

A major terror bid was foiled today when Pakistani security forces defused a roadside bomb planted on a motorcycle to target a religious procession scheduled to pass the area in the restive Balochistan province.

Frontier Corps defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on the motorcycle parked on the road in Sibi
city where a procession in connection with the Milad-un-Nabi was scheduled to pass.

Some miscreants had planted four kilogramme of explosives on the motorcycle to target the procession, Dawn online
reported citing sources.

Major terror bid was foiled prior to the arrival of procession,” the daily qioted the sources as saying.

Security in Sibi was tightened after the recovery of motorcycle. A bomb disposal squad was called in to defuse the explosive material.

In a separate incident, security forces arrested two militants and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition
from their possession in Ziarat in the province.

Security sources said one Frontier Corps personnel was injured during exchange of fire with the militants, the report said.

“The arrested militants belong to TTP (Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan),” they claimed.

Security in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan has been tightened in the aftermath of the Peshawar assault that killed 150 people, mostly children.
