Pak following ‘suicidal method’ by promoting terrorism: Naidu

Condemning the brutal act of schools being burnt in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday said Pakistan is following a suicidal method by promoting terrorism, adding this will eventually harm the hostile Asian neighbour.

“It is unfortunate that the terrorists, separatists and their supportive have taken to this heinous act of torching the schools in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan should realize that they are following a suicidal method and terrorism will eat the one who encourages it,” said Naidu.

Naidu further said Kashmir is an integral part of India, adding Pakistan should focus on its welfare and development rather than indulging in unwarranted acts.

“There are so many problems in the internal front in Pakistan, they are trying to divert the attention to borders and are intentionally raking up the Kashmir issue,” he said.

In past two months, around 25 schools have been set on fire in the Kashmir Valley.

Earlier on Sunday, a Higher Secondary Kabamarg School in South Kashmir’s Anantnag was set on fire by unidentified people.

A Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya school in Aishmuqam was also set on fire the night before.

Schools in Kashmir valley have been closed due to a shutdown call by the separatists. Dozens of schools are also still occupied by security forces deployed to contain the unrest, which began after the July 8 killing of 22-year-old Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.

So far, the efforts to reopen schools have failed as both government and separatist groups are levelling accusations against each other of playing politics over education.
