Bijapur, January 02: When the world celebrated New Year, there was high tension in the a quaint little town in Karnataka. Tension erupted when news spread that a Pakistani flag was hoisted in Sindhagi town at the Tahsildar’s office on Sunday.
Speaking on the incident SP Rajappa said that as soon as police heard of the matter, they rushed to the spot and took down the flag from the flag-pole. With a tense situation emerging following the incident, an irate mob started pelting stones at buses and the matter was ready to go out of control. With the timely intervention of the police, the situation was brought under control with the town getting back to normalcy.
The flag is believed to have been hoisted at midnight when the town was celebrating New Year, stated Rajappa. Locals apparently tried to manhandle a person who carried out the mischief. The police also took into custody some persons who were responsible for the act. However, no arrest have been made.
