Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has declared veteran superstar Dilip Kumar`s ancestral home a national heritage monument.
Lovingly called Dilip Sahab by the film fraternity, the actor`s ancestral property in Peshawar has now been given the status of national heritage monument. The Pakistani PM has directed the Ministry of information, broadcasting and national heritage to acquire the house.
According to a leading Pakistani daily, after acquiring the property, the government is planning to convert it to a museum. It is rumoured that the property was previously occupied illegaly by a family claiming to be Dilip Kumar’s relatives. The leading daily also reported that the home situated in the famed Qisa Khawani Bazaar of Peshawar was in a derelict state.
