Pak arrests 11 Indian fishermen from Arabian Sea

Ahmedabad, October 02: Pakistan Marine Security Agency (PMSA) has arrested eleven Indian fishermen and seized their boats from Arabian Sea along Jakhau coast of Gujarat, Porbandar Boat Association said Friday.

“Eleven Indian fishermen were arrested yesterday by PMSA while they were fishing in the Arabian sea near the International Marine Border,” Porbandar boat association secretary Manish Lodhari told reporters.

“We got the information from our counterparts in Karachi this morning after the fishermen reached there,” he said.

Lodhari said fishermen and two boats belong to Porbandar.

According to president of Porbandar Port Association, Hiralal Shiyal, with yesterday’s arrest, the number of Indian fishermen in Pakistan’s custody has risen to 581.

Also the number of boats seized by PMSA has gone up to 423, he added.

Last month, Pakistani agency had arrested 16 Indian fishermen and seized three fishing boats from the Arabian sea.

Lodhari said, they have informed the Indian Coast Guard about the incident.
