Commenting upon visuals of National Security Adviser Ajit Doval chatting with Kashmiris in Shopian and sharing a meal with them on the streets, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, ‘Anyone can be bought’.
Before flying to Srinagar, replying to a question of reporters on the photos and videos that emerged on Wednesday of Mr Doval’s interactions with locals in Kashmir, Mr Azad said “Paise dekar aap kisiko bhi saath le sakte ho.”
In the widely-circulated videos, Mr Doval was seen having a meal on the footpath against the backdrop of shuttered shops. A day after the centre ended special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and launched a bill for the state’s reorganisation, he flew to Kashmir on Tuesday. It was said that he was reaching out to the local population in the Kashmir Valley as a confidence building measure.
On the other hand, when Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who reached the Srinagar Airport on Thursday to visit his home and for party meetings, he was stopped at Srinagar airport and was sent back to Delhi.
