New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the Election Commission’s (EC) order in connection with paid news matter against Madhya Pradesh Public Relations Minister Narottam Mishra, who has been disqualified.
The apex court has asked the Delhi High Court to decide the matter within two weeks.
A division bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice J. Chelameswar and also comprising Justice S. Abdul Nazeer stayed the Commission’s order.
Earlier on June 23, the Election Commission disqualified Mishra for three years.
The Commission found him guilty of misrepresentation of the election expenses related to the advertisement in the media and the news articles related to the advertorial during the assembly elections in 2008. (ANI)
