New Delhi: Amidst the preparations of GES-2017, Actress Deepika Padukone has withdrawn her participation from the summit following various violent death threats by Haryana BJP leader and other right-wing group members for her controversial upcoming movie ‘Padmavati’.
The event is scheduled to be held in Hyderabad. Speaking of it, a senior Telangana government official who had earlier confirmed the actress’s participation in the summit has on Monday confirmed her withdrawal from the summit said the sources.
The Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) conducted by India in collaboration with US is scheduled to start on 28 November. The GES theme ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’, will see 1,500 entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem supporters from around the world participating in the two-and-a-half days of training.
President Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump will be heading the summit which will be attended by PM Modi.
The actress was one of the speakers at a session on ‘Hollywood to Nollywood to Bollywood: The Path to Moviemaking. The Nigerian film industry is popularly referred as Nollywood.
Since the release date of Padmavati has come forward, the actress has been receiving violent threats, some even awarding rewards for killing the actress, which has forced the movie producers to change the release date.
Heavy security has been deployed outside Deepika’s residence in the wake of death threats.
