New Delhi [India]: Union Minister Uma Bharti on Friday said the film ‘Padmavati’ should not be attached with the Rajput community as it represents the pride of Indian woman.
“I cannot remain neutral on the subject of Rani Padmavati. I request for not associating the film ‘Padmavati’ with the Rajput community instead with the pride of Indian woman,” the Union Minister tweeted.
She added that prior to the release of the film, historians, filmmakers and the censor board together should form a committee and then come up with a decision.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh was closed on Friday protesting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Padmavati’, which is schedule to release next month.
The period drama starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor has been facing flak from various communal groups, including Shree Rajput Karni Sena, for tampering historical facts.
These groups are vehemently supporting the ‘bandh’.
In October, an agitated group even destroyed a huge Padmavati-inspired rangoli made by one artist from Surat on the occasion of Diwali. (ANI)
