Chittorgarh: Thousands of Rajput women, on Sunday, protested against the film ‘Padmavat’. They decided to write letter to the President of India Ram Nath Kovind asking for his permission to end their lives by “active euthanasia.”
According to the news reported in Deccan herald, the women took swamibhan protest in the chittorgarh district of Rajasthan. The protest march started from from Padmini Mahal in Chittorgarh Fort and ended at Johur Jyoti Mandir also situated in the fort.
Sangeeta Chauhan, the secretary of Johur Kshatrani Manch told that “We are filling the forms and writing a letter to the President to seek permission for euthanasia. We want to die with dignity. No one is hearing us out. Our sentiments are hurt with the release of this film. We will also sacrifice our lives like Rani Padmini did ages ago.”
She further said that “The aim of the protest was to bring attention to the fact that we are united and are ready to go against the movie if it is released in cinema halls on January 25th.”
With the Supreme Court lifting the ban on the film by the four states, Karni Sena threatened to perform mass ‘Johur’ in Chittorgarh on January 24. However, after the Supreme Court’s order, the Rajasthan Government decided to file a petition.
Lokendra Singh Kalvi, the founder of Karni Sena has called for “Janata curfew” on January 25 and requested people to boycott the film.
