Excise Minister T. Padma Rao on Tuesday directed the officials of Prohibition and Excise Department to make Telangana ‘Gudamba Free’ State.
Addressing a review meeting with senior officials including Revenue Secretary Ajay Mishra and others at the Secretariat here, the Minister directed them to take stringent measures to eradicate the menace of ‘Gudamba’ from State. He said liquor was being sold in Warangal without payment of tax and on receipt of information he himself raided a few places. He said ‘Gudamba’ has been claiming the lives of several poor people and it should be eradicated from the society.
The minister also expressed concern over the sale of liquor at more than MRP. He asked the officials to conduct raids at regular intervals to check irregularities. (INN)
