Pact with Maharashtra on irrigation projects historic: TRS MP

Hyderabad: TRS MP Jithender Reddy on Thursday described the proposed pact between Maharashtra and Telangana States on the construction of five barrages on Godavari, Penganga and Pranahita rivers as historic.

Speaking to media persons in New Delhi, Jithender Reddy said that the pact between the two States would help thousands of drought hit farmers in both the States. He said that the decision taken by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on usage of Godavari waters was exemplary and other states too could emulate him in resolving inter-state river water sharing disputes.

He reminded that the Chief Minister had visited Mumbai last year to meet his Maharashtra counterpart Devender Fadnavis and gave some concrete and practical suggestions which have been accepted. He said that the historic pact would be signed by both the Chief Ministers in Mumbai on March 8. (INN)
