PAC pulls up State over Jala Yagnam project

TRS floor leader Etala Rajender on Wednesday slammed the State Government for the non-completion of irrigation projects under the Jala Yagnam programme in the State even after spending crores of rupees.

Talking to the media persons after attending the meeting of Public Accounts Committee held in the State Legislative Assembly premises, Rajender informed that the PAC meeting, chaired by Revury Prakash Reddy, discussed issues pertaining to Jala Yagnam scheme. Members of the committee, he said, took serious note of the irregularities conduct during implementation of the scheme.

According to Etala Rajender, the PAC members were of the view that some officials, contractors and the leaders were allegedly involved in irregularities in the implementation of Jala Yagnam scheme. They also criticised the government for not completing even one project after spending crores of rupees in the last eight years. Members, he said, have demanded action against the irregularities in Jala Yagnam and immediate recovery of the amount which was embezzled through nexus between officials, contractors and the leaders.

Rajender also said the GOs pertaining to release of prisoners, who completed seven years term in jail, have been issued but were not implemented so far. He said that TRS leaders would meet Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy in this regard appealing them to implement the government orders.

The TRS leader said that a representation would be made with the State Government not to take action against the contract lecturers of those colleges which have failed to achieve 40 percent results. It may mentioned that the government has recently proposed to sack the contract lecturers of non-performing colleges.
