PAC Chairman visits Visakhapatnam to inspect land allotment

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman R Prakash Reddy today warned the organisations and companies that the land allotted to them by government would be withdrawn if construction on the land will not commenced soon. According to district administration officials sources here, The Committee visited the Health City and Port City, which reviewed the land allotments made by the Congress government from 2006 to 2011, wanted to resume allotment of lands that were not utilised for the original purpose.

The Committee found fault with certain allotments during former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime, it said. The Telugu Desam Party members Jaipal Yadav and Devineni Umamaheswar Rao pointed out that about 50,000 acres of land was allotted as part of the largesse of the YS Rajasekhar Reddy regime. They also alleged that thousands of acres of land was given to the Hindujas for their thermal power project, but in return they were showing empty hands to the people who gave their lands and to the government which subsidised entire infrastructure.
