A P C M FOR Sample Survey In 4 Dts On Delp In Households

In a major initiative towards Energy Efficiency & Energy Conservation (EE&EC) activities which are crucial for sustainability of power sector and helps in providing qualitative power supply to consumers of the State, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has given a green signal for taking up pilot projects duly carrying out sample survey by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. (EESL), Government of India, in the areas of Domestic and Agricultural Sectors. This pro-public initiative is aimed at giving the required thrust to the Energy Efficiency & Conservation programmes of State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM)/DISCOMs.

Responding to a proposal made by SECM/DISCOMs, the Chief Minister has permitted the EESL to carry out a sample survey in Srikakulam, West Godavari, Guntur and Anantapur districts as a pilot project for taking up of DSM based Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) in all households.

He has also agreed to engage EESL for taking up a sample survey in Rajanagaram Mandal of East Godavari District for replacement of inefficient Non-ISI pump sets where the feeder segregation has taken place. Based on the sample survey, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be submitted by EESL on replacement of around 36,000 Agricultural pump sets in 13 mandals where feeder segregation has taken place duly ensuring transparency and reasonability of prices.

Accordingly, Ajay Jain, Secretary, State Energy Department, has issued a letter yesterday to CEO/SECM in which, in principle approval was given to SECM and DISCOMs to take up DSM based DELP in households of Srikakulam, West Godavari, Guntur and Anantapur and Agricultural DSM in Rajanagaram mandal of East Godavari District. DISCOMs have been suggested by the Energy Department to submit proposals to AP Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) about the revenue sharing model between DISCOMs on behalf of the State Government and EESL. On taking approval from APERC, DISCOMs shall implement the project in 13 mandals where agricultural feeder segregation has taken place.
