Owaisi slams ‘Superman’Modi, demands special package for ‘backward’ Seemanchal

Speaking about people`s expectation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s Bihar visit on August 18, All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday said that a special package should be given to the `backward` Seemanchal region in Bihar.

“Our Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) says that he is going to give a very big package. Then, Bihar`s Chief Minister is demanding a special package from the government of India. I back his claim. Bihar should get the special package, but Seemanchal should also get a special package,” Owaisi told a public gathering here during his maiden visit to Bihar.

He added that if the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have intellectual honesty, then they should do something to remove backwardness of Seemanchal.

Owaisi, a three-term Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad, also launched an attack on the BJP for not showing the seriousness to develop Seemanchal.

“If the Centre is indeed serious about development of Seemanchal region, then it could have set up a special development council under Article 371 of the Constitution to speed up development works,” he said.

The AIMIM supremo also used the occasion to criticize Prime Minister Modi for not being there in the Lok Sabha during the Parliament logjam.

“During Parliament logjam, Prime Minister Modi left the External Affairs Minister all alone to defend herself. `Superman` Prime Minister didn`t come in the Lok Sabha. Yesterday he hoisted the flag and today, he is in Dubai.”
