MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi today said that necessary measures should be taken to provide protection to the Minorities in Telangana. He said that though opinion was divided, they were agreeable fore formation of Telangana state.
Participating in the debate on Telangana bill in the State Assembly, Owaisi said there are 42 per cent Muslims in Hyderabad, and 33 percent in greater Hyderabad. He said there was possibility of the BJP and TDP getting strengthened after formation of Telangana state. He said that the MIM was opposed to making Hyderabad as a Union Territory or making it common capital of Seemandhra and Telangana. They were also opposed to a common Governor for both the States and common High Court. If all were common, where was the need for separate Telangana, he questioned. Only the Hyderabad Revenue division should be made the common capital for sometime, he added.
The MIM leader said that while introducing the Telangana Bill in Parliament, the Capital of Seemandhra be announced.
Minority sub-plan
Muslims’ views were not taken into consideration when Andhra Pradesh was formed. They had urged the GoM to form ‘Rayala Telangana’, but their request was ignored. Hindutva forces will get strengthened in the ten districts of Telangana, he apprehended. The demonstrations and dharnas being organised by the Sangh parivar during the past four years would prove this, he added.
Owaisi demanded implementation of minority sub-plan because Muslims are more backward than SCs and STs.(NSS)
