Owaisi plans to adopt village in Mulayam’s constituency in Azamgarh

Hyderabad MP and leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittahadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana have decided to adopt a village in Mulayam’s constituency of Azamgarh.

The reasons for Owaisi adoption of village were as much practical as political. “Hyderabad is an urban constituency, it doesn’t have villages, so I have decided to identify and apply to the concerned ministry for the adoption of a village in Azamgarh.”

He further said that his expedition to so far up north to Uttar Pradesh to find a village to adopt “should not be looked at negatively.” “Just because Azamgarh is Mulayam Singh Yadav’s constituency does not mean I cannot adopt a village there. The government has started a scheme, and I want to participate in that, if my constituency does not afford me the opportunity for it, I will look elsewhere.

I want to bring forward other aspects of the place; it is not just the Azamgarh of terror suspect.

According to Showkat Ali, AIMIM’s local in charge said that though the village to be adopted has not been finalized, it might as well be Sanjarpur. “It may be Sanjarpur, but it is not final yet”.

As per a political analyst, “If Owaisi wants to make a mark in UP, he needs to take in on Mulayam Singh for the latter’s party enjoys Muslim community support to an extent”.

“The Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, is a government scheme and to use it for political leverage is not a healthy trend for democracy. If it is under the rules there is nothing much that can be done, but he (Owaisi) should be careful of politicising things which needn’t be politicised,” said SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary.

Recently in Maharashtra, the AIMIM hogged headlines and managed to win two assembly seats.
