AIMIM supremo and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi today called up Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary and lodged a protest over demolition of mosques, dargahs and graveyards in Krishna District in the name of road widening works and demanded severe action against the Revenue officials responsible for the demolitions.
The Hyderabad MP complained to the Chief Secretary that in the early hours of Sunday, revenue authorities demolished the Masjid-e-Ali situated at Eidpugalu village under Kankipadu mandal of Krishna district despite stay order from the court. The officials forcibly remitted paltry compensation amount in the Masjid’s bank account. He said demolition of mosques, dargahs and graveyards in Krishna district were illegal and arbitrary. “No mosque can be shifted or demolished as it becomes the property of Allah and no one, even the one who built, had a right to agree for its shifting or demolition”, he pointed out.
He also alleged that since May last year, the revenue officials resorted to arbitrary demolition of mosques, dargahs and graveyards in Krishna district and centuries-old Masjid-e- Abu Bakr, Hazrat Hussain Shah Quadri and Syed Shah Quadri Dargahs and Masjid, Jame Masjid, Hazrat Shah Zahoor Musafir Dargah, Tarapet Masjid and Jannatul Firdous graveyard were demolished in utter violation of laws for protection fo religious places and ignoring the stay orders of the courts and pleas of the AP State Wakf Board and despite strong protests from local Muslims. The officials had taken up demolition of Nimra Masjid, Mohammedia graveyards, Masjid-e- Bilal and Eidgah, Masjid-e- Ali at Eidpugalu village in Kankipadu mandal, Masjid-e- Tana Shah and graveyard at Nepally village and Mosque and graveyard in Nodomolu village in Pamarru mandal.
The AIMIM leader has written to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in May last year and again in May this year against the arbitrary demolition of places of worship for road widening and flyover works. He demanded that the Chief Minister immediately stop the demolition of Muslim places of worship, initiate action against the revenue officials responsible, and order reconstruction of the mosques, dargahs and graveyards demolished so far.
