NEW DELHI: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi favoured daily hearing in Supreme Court over the Ayodhya temple dispute and said the case is about who has the title of the disputed land.
Owaisi also said he was waiting to see if “conspiracy charges” would be held against senior BJP leaders in the matter.
He was reacting to the Supreme Court suggestion that fresh attempts be made by all parties concerned to find a solution to the Ayodhya temple dispute which is a “sensitive” and “sentimental matter”.
Asked if the issue can be resolved through out-of-court settlement, dialogue and mediation, he sought to reaffirm the position of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board.
The Board, a party to the appeal in SC, had in their working committee taken a decision that there would be no more talks as earlier six attempts were not successful, and want the Court to hear the matter on a day-to-day basis.
“Because of RSS’s bigotry and intransigence, all earlier six attempts of talks have failed,” Owaisi told PTI here.
“RSS should tell their own government, which is in power, to approach the Supreme Court and request it to sit during the summer vacation and hear the matter on day-to-day basis. Let the court decide, without any break (in sitting),” the Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP said.
On BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s suggestion that the Ram temple should be built at Ram Janambhoomi (birthplace of Ram), while the Masjid (mosque) on the other side of Sarayu river to resolve the Ayodhya issue, Owaisi said it did not matter what he said.
“It’s a title suit, which will be decided according to who has the title of that land,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Owaisi said the case is about the title, and he is waiting to seeing if “conspiracy charges” would be held against senior BJP leaders in the matter.
“Waiting to hear about whether conspiracy charges will be held against (L K) Advani, (Murli Manohar) Joshi, Uma Bharati (Bharti) in Babri demolition case since….1992,” he said in a tweet.
He also hoped that the Supreme Court would decide on the “contempt petition which is pending since demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992.”
“Please remember Babri Masjid case is about Title which Allahabad court wrongly decided as a Partnership case hence the appeal in apex court,” he said in another tweet.
The Allahabad High Court had ruled a three-way division of the disputed land – one third for the Sunni Waqf Board, one third for the Nirmohi Akhara and one third to the party for ‘Ram Lalla’.
“Dalit Christian & Muslim issue is also resolved (which is) pending in Apex court for many years not giving Dalit status violation of Fundamental rights,” Owaisi added.
