Hyderabad, May 19: Abdullah Bin Younus Yafai, Younus Bin Omer Yafai and Mohammed Bahadur Ali Khan, three of the accused in the attack on Majlis- E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, complained to the 14th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate they were not being provided proper medical care by Cherlapally prison authorities.
During a video conference, the accused informed the magistrate they had several health complications and requested the judge to provide them better medical treatment. Abdullah Bin Younus Yafai was recently discharged from Yashoda Hospital after being treated for a bullet injury he suffered during the attack, when Mohammed Jani, the gunman of Malakpet MLA Ahmed Balala allegedly opened fire.
The accused asked the magistrate to allow them to have proper treatment either in any government hospital or a private hospital.
After hearing the accused, the judge directed prison authorities to provide better medical treatment as suggested in the jail manual.
When contacted, Cherlapally superintendent Srinivas said he was unaware about court orders but confirmed the accused had requested the magistrate to provide them medical treatment.
“We already have three full-time doctors inside the jail to attend to any emergency. But I am not aware about specific directions given by the court in this case,” Srinivas said.
Mohammed Bahadur Ali Khan (52) is said to be suffering with slipped disc and was scheduled to get a surgery done a week after the attack on Akbar.
After he was arrested and sent to judicial remand, the issue of getting operated became uncertain.
He is also diabetic. Younus Bin Omer Yafai (67) is said to be suffering with liver and heart problems besides suffering from diabetes. The magistrate also extended their remand till June 1.
