120 applications have been submitted from across the state for Telangana Overseas Study Scheme under which financial assistance will be provided to minority students for pursuing higher education in universities of 5 foreign countries. The last date to submit applications is August 1. Minority Welfare Department sources told that the government has allocated a budget of Rs. 25 Cr for implementing the scheme but the budget has not been released so far. After completing the selection process by August 4, orders will be issued by August 7. However in case of non-release of budget the department may face difficulties. Officials have to say that chief minister level intervention is necessary for immediate release of Rs. 25 Cr. 250 students can get financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakhs during the current year.
