Telangana government has introduced Telangana Overseas Study Scheme for minorities pursuing higher studies in foreign countries. A screening committee meeting will be held today for selection of candidates. Special counters had been set up at Hajj House for scrutiny of certificates and applications of candidates belonging to Hyderabad and Rangareddy.
A total of 513 applications have been submitted under the scheme from across the state. After the checking of applications and certificates by District Minority Welfare Officer the list of deserving candidates will be handed over to Selection Committee. Secretary Minority Welfare is the chairman of the Committee while Director Minority Welfare is the convenor. Government has allocated Rs. 25 Cr for the scheme through which 250 students will benefit.
