The first instalment of Overseas Scholarship Scheme for minority students to study in foreign universities will be released next month. Secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel has sought report from Director Minority Welfare in this connection. Speaking to media persons Syed Omer Jaleel told that out of 210 candidates, details of such candidates had been sought who had submitted required certificates to Minority Welfare after taking admission in any foreign university. Those who have taken admission in foreign university and have submitted admission card, airlines’ boarding card and affidavit stating that the documents are true, would be issued the first instalment of scholarship by November 15.
Director Minority Welfare will submit the report to the Secretary regarding number of students. Syed Omer Jaleel told that 210 students had been declared eligible for the scheme. Selected candidates can know their status on department website. He admitted that implementation of scheme was delayed to some reasons. He informed that government had allocated Rs. 25 Cr. for the scheme and the department was taking measures to get the amount soon.
