Former MP and TRS leader Vinod on Monday informed that a TRS delegation led by party chief K Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) had submitted a memorandum of five demands to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
Speaking to the media after meeting the Prime Minister, Vinod, said they have thanked Dr Manmohan Singh for passage of the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganization Bill in Parliament. He said they have demanded that the Prime Minister accord special status to Telangana State. The Prime Minister was also urged to give a fair share to the Telangana State in allocation of power and gas. They have also urged the Centre to set up an IIM and an AIMS in Telangana State.
Vinod said the Prime Minister reacted positively to the demand for according national project status to Pranahitha-Chevella Project. Manmohan Singh had assured to take effective steps to protect the brand image of Hyderabad city, he added.
“TRS delegation also urged the Prime Minister to ensure elections be conducted in the two new States. He said the PM assured them that he would talk with the Union Home Minister on the matter. He also claimed that 90 percent of TRS members were not favoring merger of the TRS into the Congress. (NSS)
