Guwahati, March 25: Over 500 nomination papers have been filed till today, the last date for filing of nominations for second phase of Assam Assembly polls, to be held on April 11.
“For the 64 Assembly seats that will go to polls on April 11, so far we have received more than 500 nominations while some reports of filing of papers are yet to be received from remote areas,” Additional Chief Electoral Officer M C Sahu told PTI here.
Tomorrow is the date of scrutiny.
Among the prominent candidates who have filed their nomination for the second phase are two-time former chief minister and Opposition leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary and ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma and Rockybul Hussain.
