NEW DELHI: In a major lapse, Jet Airways had to turn back shortly on Thursday morning after passengers suffer through the nose and ear bleeding allegedly over a bizarre mistake by the crew.
As per reports, B737 aircraft operating flight 9W 697 Mumbai-Jaipur flight with 166 passengers onboard return back to Mumbai after the crew member forgot to select the ‘bleed switch’ as a result passengers suffered nasal, ear bleeding and many also complained of a headache following which oxygen masks deployed to them.
“During climb, the crew forgot to select bleed switch due to which cabin pressurization could not be maintained,” the official at aviation regulator DGCA said.
“Out of 166 passengers on board, 30 passengers are affected… some have nose bleeding, few have ear bleeding and some are complaining of headache,” he added.

The affected passengers are presently being attended by doctors at the airport.

Jet Airways spokesperson told ANI, “The flight’s cockpit crew has been taken off scheduled duties pending investigation. The airline is making alternative flight arrangements for guests on this flight.”
