Over 200 meritorious candidates left in lurch

Bangalore, January 14: Over 200 meritorious candidates selected for the post of lecturers at government polytechnic colleges were upset as they were not allowed to attend counselling on the grounds that their names did not figure in the first list.

The directorate of technical education conducted the counselling on Wednesday.”We are following the list sent by the higher education secretary.

Some names have been withheld because the records submitted by candidates have not reached him,” said HU Talwar, director of technical education.

“We started the process because if the BBMP poll code of conduct is declared, we cannot start counselling and students will have to sit without lectures.

We will finish counselling the candidates in the lists and later accommodate those who were not named in the first list,” he said.”I got the highest percentage… I won’t be able to select the place of my preference and candidates with lesser marks will get good postings,” said Mohan, a candidate.
