Over 20 laptops stolen from shop

Hyderabad, November 25: More than 20 laptops were stolen from Youdan Computers and Peripherals situated on the busy Gunfoundry Road at Abids. Police said they are yet to ascertain how the intruders gained entry into the store as the shutters were intact and there were no signs of forcible entry.

After keeping the establishment shut for three consecutive days, the proprietor of the Youdan Computers and Peripherals, Dhanji Mistry, noticed the theft on Tuesday morning when he opened the shop at around 10.30 am. “It was only after the staff entered that they noticed the laptops had been stolen and there were no signs of a break-in,” Abids police inspector Shiva Kumar said.

The value of the stolen laptops would be around Rs 8-9 lakh, the inspector said.

Police said the shutter locks were intact and there was no evidence to show that they were forced open. “The shutter keys are with the proprietors who live in the neighbourhood and we are suspecting that the intruders might have used duplicate keys to gain entry,” Shiva Kumar said. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
