Fulfilling the promise of providing education grant to girl students in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government today distributed cheques worth Rs 4.98 crore to 1,660 girls under the Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme. “There would be no dearth of funds for girls who are desirous of completing their education,” Minister of state for Civil Defence, stamp and court fee and Minister Incharge of the District, Durga Prasad Yadav said. The UP government would also send Rs 5.63 crore to be distributed among 1,878 girl students desirous of getting better education, Yadav added. The Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme was launched for girl students belonging to families which could not afford their education, he said. “There would be no dearth of the funds for welfare schemes of the poor. About 80 percent promises made during election have been fulfilled,” he added. PTI
