Over 1500 students, 800 visitors watched Assembly session

For the first time after almost eight years, the students and common people got the opportunity to watch the live proceedings of just-concluded budget session of Telangana State Legislative Assembly from the Visitors’ Gallery.

According to officials, as many as 1,540 students, 73 teachers and 800 general visitors watched the proceedings of Legislative Assembly during the 19-day session held from November 5 to 29th. The students and teachers belonged to 13 different schools and colleges across the Telangana State.

Several restrictions were imposed on the entry of visitors in the Assembly after N Kiran Kumar Reddy was made the Speaker of the then undivided Andhra Pradesh Assembly in 2009. He had implemented the model of Parliament and imposed certain restrictions on the entry of visitors and also the media personnel. Further restrictions were imposed in view of Telangana agitation. Now after the formation of Telangana State, Speaker S Madhusudan Chary restored the rules and allowed a large number of students and common visitors to watch their elected representatives perform in the State Legislative Assembly.
