Over 1,500 cases registered against adulteration

Jaipur, July 15: In a special drive against food adulteration in Rajasthan, 1,540 cases for various offences have been registered by state authorities since June 22, a senior official said today.

Several teams of Food, Agricultural, Medical and Health and Police departments raided 7,038 business establishments and collected 6,397 samples of various articles, the official said, adding licences of 132 establishments were suspended while 42 others were cancelled.

Officials raided 573 shops and other business establishments, registering 140 cases for alleged food adulteration today.

Six licences including four of Pubic Distribution System shops were cancelled, he said.

The teams also collected 879 sample, he said.

The drive- ‘Shudh Ke Liye Yudh’- was launched on June 22 and would be reviwed by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot after it completes one month, he said.
