New Delhi: Around 1,100 students of SC and ST communities, who are studying in Delhi government-run schools, have been provided scholarships by power major TPDDL.
The class X, XI and XII students were selected from 46 schools of north and northwest Delhi for the scholarships in the form of reference books, stationery items and school bags.
At an event, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd CEO and MD Praveer Sinha said that the scholarships were part of the company’s “Affirmative Action Program”.
“Under it, we focus on four critical areas – education, employment, employability and entrepreneurship with education being the most critical,” he said.
National Confederation of Dalit Organisations (NACDOR) Chairman Ashok Bharti and NK Chandan, Delhi chief of Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (DICCI) was also present on the occasion.
“A total outlay of Rs 43.83 lakh has been earmarked in this respect for the year 2015,” the company said.
