Over 1000 auto drivers booked for violating traffic rules

Hyderabad: In a special drive conducted by Hyderabad Traffic Police on 8 January 2020 against the auto-rickshaws carrying over capacity school children and for violating other traffic rules.

As much as 1198 cases were booked by the traffic police against the auto-rickshaw drivers for violating the following traffic rules.Whereas the traffic cops have checked about 6400 auto-rickshaws in a day.

According to the Hyderabad Traffic Police report, 329 auto drivers were booked for overcapacity of school children. 172 auto drivers were booked for carrying overcapacity of passengers, 631 for extra projection, 266 booked for driving auto-rickshaw without uniform, a total of 1198 cases were booked by the traffic cops. The special drive will continue in the city.

Hyderabad Traffic Police department request parents not to send their children in a vehicle carrying more than the seating capacity. Transporting children in an overloaded vehicle is clearly a violation of Traffic Rules. This endangers the lives of children.

Further, the traffic police department suggests the parents check the validity of documents viz., Driving License of Driver, Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate and Fitness Certificate of vehicles before sending children to Schools.

Also, verify the antecedents/behaviour of the driver. School managements should also ensure the safety of school children during the journey of school children.
