Accordingly, the GHMC has invited applications from the youth to take-up door to door garbage collection. So far, about 1,000 applications have been received under the scheme. Somesh Kumar said preference would be given to the people having a tri-cycle driving license. Others will be trained so that they could get the license. Loans will also be arranged through the GHMC for the eligible candidates. By door to door garbage collection, a person can earn around Rs. 40,000/- per month, said Somesh Kumar.
The selected candidates will be allotted certain houses and the garbage should be collected from them with the help of one helper and a amount will be fixed to collect from the house owners. Auto rickshaws will be deployed in the slums where there is no possibility for entry of auto trippers.
