Over 100 militants killed in operation in northwest Pakistan

Over 100 militants and eight security personnel were killed during an operation in Pakistan’s troubled Khyber tribal region, a senior army official said today.

One hundred and four militants were killed and eighty-four injured in the operation in Tirah Valley of Khyber agency, Maj General Humayun Salim said.

Security forces have completed the operation that lasted 22 days, Salim was quoted as saying by state-run Radio Pakistan.

Eight security forces personnel were also killed in the campaign, he said.

Salim said 98 villages were cleared and the repatriation of displaced people will start soon.
