State BJP president G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday declared that his party would take the responsibility of achieving separate Telangana State as his party won the by-election in Mahbubnagar Assembly constituency.
Speaking at the Assembly media point, Kishan Reddy said that people of Mahbubnagar strongly believed that the BJP would deliver Telangana State in 2014 and voted for his party. He also pointed out that the by-election result revealed that the people of Mahbubnagar rejected the “two-eyed” policy of TDP president Chandrababu Naidu by not voting to that party
The people have given a clear verdict in favour of separate State and the electoral victory will lead to a new phase in the Telangana agitation, he added. He recalled that though his party had secured only 1,600 votes in the 2009 elections in Mahbubnagar, the same people voted for the BJP in the hope that his party would help achieve Telangana State.
The victorious candidate Yennam Srinivas Reddy said that the people of the constituency believed that separate Telangana was possible only through a national party. He also said that his party would spare no efforts to strengthen the movement for separate State. Stating that the “slogan of Separate Telangana” emerged winner, he said that the victory in Mahbubnagar has increased the party’s responsibility in the achievement of separate State.
Sitting MLA Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who retained his Nagarkurnool seat in the by-election said that the TDP should realize his folly and its president Chandrababu Naidu should write a letter to the Congress High Command in favour of Telangana State. (NSS)
