Hyderabad, November 23: Activists of the OU Students Joint Action Committee (OUJA C) today obstructed a few aspirants from non-Telangana regions who came to appear for interviews for the posts of assistant librarians in the university.
According to sources, the OU authorities have called applications to fill posts of assistant librarians recently. Nearly 60 applied for the posts.
“We came to know that more than half of the applications (32) were from people belonging to Seemandhra,” OUJA C general secretary G Srinivas Yadav said.
As interviews were being held at the administrative building, the OUJAC students reached there and enquired with the candidates about their place of origin.
They reportedly even verified the certificates of the candidates and sent away three aspirants, including a woman, without allowing them to attend the interview.
“We told them that the aspirants from Telangana were denied job opportunities and convinced them to leave. Two left after our request,” Srinivas Yadav said.
Meanwhile, the OUJA C staged a protest in front of the library demanding that the posts of assistant librarians should be filled with people from Telangana.
They later burnt an effigy of the state government in front of the library and took out a rally till the Arts College where they staged another protest.
