OU teachers urge for protection from students

Osmania University Teachers Association (OUTA) has approached the State Human Rights Commission urging it to stop the attacks on professors by the students.

On Thursday, the OUTA representatives have brought to the notice of the Commission that some students had attacked Journalism Department Professor K Narender, hatching a conspiracy on December 17.

They said the students also obstructed the rally taken by the professors on next day to bring the issue to notice of vice-chancellor of the University. They alleged that the students used abusive language against the professors. They said that they were not in a position to take the classes, as the situation was not good. They urged the SHRC to provide protection to the teacher community in the university.

Responding to the teachers’ plea, SHRC issued orders to the City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma and OU VC Sathyanarayana to submit a comprehensive report on the issue before December.
