OU students threaten stir if CM goes ahead with his plan

Protesting against decision of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for construction of houses on the Osmania University land, OU students today staged a dharna in front of the Arts College and burnt an effigy of KCR.

The protestors warned that they would not keep quiet if the OU land was taken over by the government for construction of houses for the poor. The students said they would launch an agitation if KCR failed to withdraw his decision. The OU, which was the centre of movement for the cause of statehood for Telangana, has once again passing through tense situation after the announcement of the Chief Minister. They said KCR has become chief minister due to sacrifices of students and their active participation in the agitation.

So far, about 1,300 acres of OU land was encroached upon. Now, after realization of Telangana State, the State government, instead of taking action to get back the grabbed OU land, how can it usurp OU land?, they questioned.(NSS)
