OU students take out rally for job notification

Tension prevailed on the Osmania University campus for different reason today.

The OU, which was epicenter of Telangana agitation, witnessed tension as the students took out a rally for not celebrating the first anniversary of Telangana State, but demanding early notification for government jobs.

Displaying black flags, OU students took out a rally and questioned where was one lakh jobs as promised by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and demanded issuance of notification immediately in this regard. The protestors also demanded that KCR withdraw his statement that OU lands would be acquired for construction of houses for the poor.

Sensing trouble, the police closed all roads leading to the OU and put up barricades. Police also took OU student leaders into custody and shifted them to Amberpet police station. There was mild tension when some OU students carrying black badges took out a rally from the Arts College towards the NCC Gate where police personnel prevented them to proceed further. As a result, both police and students indulged in arguments which led to preventive arrest of some students. However, the police brought the situation under control. (NSS)
