OU students stone Naidu convoy

Hyderabad, January 06: Students of Osmania University campus on Friday morning hurled stones at the convoy of Telugu Desam party president and former chief minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, at Tarnaka in Hyderabad as he began his ‘Warangal tour’.

The Osmania University police, who took precautions after the university students announced that they would not allow the convoy to pass through the road, lobbed tear gas shells to quell the agitating students.

Over 50 students gathered at the ‘A’ ground on the campus and started pelting stones at the convoy from Aradhana theatre side.

The police party deployed on the Tarnaka fly-over began firing tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. The clash continued for over 10 minutes but the convoy passed by the fly-over without interruption. No person was injured in the incident.
