OU students stage dharna against shifting 105th Science Congress

The Osmania University students today launched agitation for shifting 105th Indian Science Congress venue from Osmania University to Manipur Central University.

Alleging that the 105th Science Congress was being shifted to another university just because of inefficiency of vice-chancellor, registrar and the State government, the students rushed to the Administrative block and staged a dharna. Meanwhile, rumours spread in Osmania University that vice-chancellor Prof. Ramachandram has tendered his resignation along with the Registrar.

In Kolkata, Indian Science Congress has taken a decision to shift 105th Science Congress venue from Osmania University to Manipur Central University. Seven Universities competed to conduct 105th Science Congress, including Andhra University. Manipur Central University got the opportunity to organize the 105th Science Congress.

The Osmania University also expressed its willingness to host 105th Science Congress, but Association rejected its request. The previous 104th Science Congress was held at Andhra University last year and Indian Science Congress Association then announced Osmania University’s name for conducting 105th Science Congress. But due to the disturbances in the University, the vice-chancellor asked the Indian Science Congress Association to postpone the 105th Science Congress scheduled to be held from January 3 to 7 at the Osmania University.

But the Science Congress cancelled the venue and allotted the same to Manipur Central University today. The Indian Science Congress Association has announced that they will refund the fees amount to the members, who registered their names for 105th Science Congress, in their bank accounts.
