OU students to launch 2nd phase of agitation

Hyderabad, March 24: After lying low for the past few days in view of the ongoing examinations, the Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee (JAC) had decided to intensify their struggle for Telangana and launch second phase of agitation.

This announcement came on Martyr’s day, the day when Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev were executed by the Britishers during the Indian freedom movement.

The OU JAC today held a meeting today at the Arts college to pay homage to Yadaiah and M Sai Kumar, who took their lives for separate Telangana a few days back. Hundreds of students gathered and held a candlelight demonstration.

Announcing the second phase of agitation for Telangana, the JAC appealed to the students not to resort to suicides. “Don’t sacrifice your lives. Fight for Telangana,’’ the JAC called upon the students.

The JAC announced formation of three committees – Legal committee to look into release of students arrested in the movement, Coordination committee and a Counselling Committee to counsel students.

Sai Kumar’s parents, Lakshamaiah and Lakshmamma also participated in the meeting.

They appealed to the students not to take their lives for Telangana.

Freedom fighter Konda Lakshman Bapuji said the people of the region should seal its boundaries with other regions, if separate Telangana is not carved out.
