A meeting of the steering committee of the students of Osmania University Joint Action Committee was held at Arts College yesterday and decided to intensify Telangana Agitation.
A decision was taken to organize cycle rallies in 10 districts of Telangana on 15th February. On 2nd March Students’ Simha Garjana (Lion’s Uproar) would be organized at Nizam College. “Chalo Assembly” programme would be organized on 20th March to gherao the A.P. Assembly.
The representatives of the Students’ organizations told the media persons that they would float candidates of their own to contest Graduates’ constituency. The names of such candidates would be announced shortly. If students’ Organizations float their own candidates, it would pose a danger to the candidates floated by TRS since it has already announced the names of its candidates earlier. The Joint Action Committee of the Students of Osmania University is not satisfied the way TRS and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee are functioning.
The students demanded the Central Govt. to present Telangana Bit in the next session of the Parliament and also to ensure the formation of the State of Telangana. JAC of the O.U. Students also condemned police atrocities and said that during agitation, it enters the campus of the University and targets the students whereas the High Court of A.P. has given clear instructions to the police not to enter the campus.
The joint action Committee also demanded to withdraw all the cases registered against the students during Telangana Agitations.
