While the citizens of the twin cities were welcoming the New Year 2013 and rejoicing by dancing and bursting crackers, one Aruna, an Osmania University Law student was allegedly gang raped and murdered by unidentified sex maniacs on Monday night. Her dead body was found under Chatrinaka Police Station limits on Tuesday morning.
As the news spread like wild fire, Osmania University students rushed to the Afzalgunj Police Station and staged a dharna at the crossroads demanding that the State government track down the culprits immediately. The dharna at the very busy junction brought the vehicular traffic to a grinding halt.
When the police officials asked the protestors to disperse peacefully and make way for the floating vehicular traffic, the students made it clear that they would not leave the place until Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy come to the spot and gave a categorical assurance that the culprits would be arrested and brought to book.
The students have alleged that Aruna’s friend and his associates committed the heinous crime. They demanded that the government punish the culprits severely.
